Deadline for UKCA marking on Construction Products revoked

Earlier this year we reported on the extension of the deadline for Products falling under the Construction Products Regulation and being sold in the UK to carry the UKCA mark. However, following an announcement on September 2nd from the UK Government’s Minister for Building Safety, the previously established deadline of June 30th, 2025 for marking Construction Products with the UKCA, has now been revoked.

Previously, this deadline was critical for ensuring compliance of Construction Products Regulation (CPR) products with the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking. This deadline had distinguished CPR products from a broader range of goods, for which the CE mark remained acceptable in the UK market post-Brexit. The UK government’s directive had emphasized the need for construction-related products to meet UKCA standards by 2025, underscoring a focused approach to maintaining high levels of safety and performance, even as a more lenient stance was adopted for other product categories.

This regulatory focus on CPR products had created an urgent call to action for those in the construction industry, aligning with the stringent safety measures outlined in the Building Safety Act. Companies involved with CPR products were urged to accelerate their efforts towards achieving UKCA compliance to ensure their products’ legality in the UK market by the now-revoked deadline. Proactively engaging with the UKCA marking procedures and initiating the certification process was deemed crucial for compliance readiness.
